Preparing to Hear the Stories of God
Worship & Wonder~ "Jesus Dies & God Makes Jesus Alive Again". Storyteller~Kathie Wilkins
Responding to the Stories of God
Now is the time to think about the story we just heard. Perhaps you would like to use crayons or markers or legos or block or play-do to help you think more about this story.
Note to Parents: It is important to allow your child to consider the story. Then take the time to listen to them tell you about the work they have created as they thought about the story.
Thank you for making Jesus alive again.
Note to Parents: During the "Wondering Time" after the story the children will be asked questions about what they think about the story. This is a time for their imaginations to be used and it is important that you just listen and hear their answers.
Scripture Reading-Luke 19:28-40
One: The stories of God for the people of God.
Many: Thanks be to God.

Offering~A Time to Give
Our response to this great generosity of God is overflowing compassion, joy, faith, gratitude, and love.
Our response can also be seen in our offerings and tithes to the church.
Today, we also have the opportunity to support the many ministries of our General Church through our Easter Offering. This offering supports ministries like the Disciples Women who have for the past several years been committed to fight the evil of modern-day slavery, which overwhelmingly affects millions of children and women around the world. This General ministry has inspired our youth to help set the captive and oppressed free.
Your generosity bears witness to God’s care for the poor and oppressed. Please give as you are called and as you are able.
Supporting the General Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), by giving to the Easter Offering, is one of the many ways you share your response to God’s generosity. The work of these ministries overflows “from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.” You can give online at https://disciplesmissionfund.org/give/ or you can also give to the Easter Fund on the Ashland Christian Church Website.
You can give online to Ashland Christian Church HERE or mail in your donation 301 S James St. Ashland, VA 23005 or you can download the App called Give + for Apple or at Google Play and donate to support the ongoing ministry of the church.
You are also invited to share your resources of non-perishable food with Ashland Christian Emergency Services.
ACES is open Monday and Wednesdays from 8:30 am-11:30 am
And you can also consider giving to Hanover Habitat.
Families in Hanover Cove need our help.
Last year’s frequent and heavy rain caused costly delays in construction of homes in Hanover Cove. Now construction has been halted again due to the COVID-19. These unexpected delays have impacted six families, who are waiting for their homes to be built. If you would like to give to Hanover Habitat please click HERE.
Communion Hymn-"All Who Hunger Gather Gladly". Soloist~Stacey Wilson & Pianist~Dr. Harold Rohrs
Jesus said to his disciples, “This bread is my body and in this cup is my blood given and shed for you.” This kind of talk sounded more like surrender than a glorious victory. This must have troubled the disciples.
We are troubled today and long for victory over this virus and our fears. Christ meets us wherever we break bread and drink from the cup and Christ reminds us that when we are troubled that God’s love for us is stronger than our fears.
Let us pray.
Prayer for the Bread & Cup:
Bless these elements and remind us of your revolutionary divine love offered to us through Christ our Lord. Amen.
On the night Jesus was betrayed, he took bread, and after he blessed it, he broke it and gave it to his disciples and said, “This is my body, which is given for you; this do in remembrance of me.”
Likewise, after supper Jesus took the cup and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you; this do in remembrance of me. “
May we wholeheartedly accept your love and mercy given and poured out in the bread and the cup so that your mercy is made evident in our lives.
In the name of your beloved Son we pray. Amen.
